From local data to hyperlocal marketing

Panelists

Kenny Herman is the EVP of Business Development at SinglePlatform, the world's largest online provider of restaurant menus and local business storefronts.

Gauri Manglik, co-founder and CEO of Fondu, the destination for foodies. Fondu is a fast and fun way to share bite-size restaurant reviews with friends for the iPhone.

Andy Hunter is the co-founder and CEO of Broadcastr, a Brooklyn-based startup creating a platform for geo-targeted multimedia distribution and discovery on mobile devices.

Steve Schultz, founder of Movable Feast, an app that immerses users in locations, with stories that connect the dots on the map.

Introduction

Raj Singh serves as a Director of Interoperability Programs for the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), an international industry consortium of 442 companies, government agencies and universities.

Panelists

Nick Brachet, Chief Technology Officer of Skyhook, the worldwide leader in location positioning, context and intelligence.

Tyler Bell, Director of Product for Factual, an LA-based startup that is, amongst other things, creating a global coverage of the world's POI and Places.

Darrin Clement, founder and CEO of Maponics, which builds and defines polygons such as neighborhood boundaries, ZIP Codes, and school attendance zones that are meaningful at the local level.

Sajit Thomas, Esri - Killer Apps 

Sajit Thomas is a UX Architect at Esri - a software company that specializes in using the geographic approach to problem solving. Sajit is part of the Corporate Sales team and works on new ideas and solutions to implement spatial technology.

Killer Apps

The next killer app is the holy grail for every geek. Although there are no secret formulas to creating the next killer app, every developer could use some inspiration and a few ideas to give their geeky app a minuscule chance at being the next killer app.

The presentation will cover a simple framework for creating spatial content and creating apps that consume that content. Apps that go beyond just showing location and incorporate spatial analysis.

Using real-world solutions and prototypes, Sajit will share some tricks he uses in his quest for the holy grail.

Joe Meyer, CEO of HopStop, the second largest pedestrian navigation provider behind Google Maps.

Scott Rafer, CEO of Lumatic, which is making cities easier to use via photo-driven pedestrian navigation.

Puneet Mehta, co-founder of MyCityWay, a real time app designed to transform your hand held device into a mega-utility tool for navigating the urban scene.

We try to keep prices fair and affordable for different groups within the geoweb community. Ticket sales cover our costs. Geoweb Forum is a bootstrapped project.

There are discount codes out there for students and startups. You are welcome to take advantage of them if you come across them. We can not apply discounts on already bought tickets.

We will refund your ticket if an event is cancelled or moved - which should never happen. Except for special circumstances tickets are non-refundable.
